Today we got a city in Inner Mongolia--Shiwei. This is a small town which beside Russia. And you can see from the picture on the left, the mountains behind us is Russia. And we even can see the villages in the side over the river in Russia.
Because there are no good hotels, so we lived in a local villager's home. And this family is very kind, unsophisticated and friendly. In the second day, we asked them to give us some horses to ride. And he gave us 7 horses. You can see from the picture on the left side, we are riding horses. And I was the second from the left side. This is my real first time to ride a horse on the grasslands. I were very exciting and happy. And I even let the horse run!!! I thought it's the best part of this journey.

And the most famous food there is the mutton!!! You can see the picture at the left side. Actually I don't like mutton very much. Because the mutton in Shanghai always has a special smell, and I don't like that smell. But the mutton here doesn't have that special smell. It is very tender and full of the juice. I like the mutton here very much!!!
And another specialty here is the blueberry. The blueberry here is agrestal and fresh. We tasted many blueberries, and I thought they're very sweet and fresh. So I bought many dried blueberries back.

Q: What are two emotions the main character has felt? What made the main character feel that way?

A: Actually there are four main characters in this book, so I chose the two emotions which they all have at the same time.
First, I choose the emotion--Sad. Why they got this emotion at the same time? The reason is that they found out that that can't spend this summer together. Because they always spent summer together. And this is the first time which they won't spend the summer together. So they felt very sad. One of them even wanted to cry. TAT  It shows the profound friendship among them. And let me think of my friends.
Second, I choose the emotion--Surprised. They got this emotion together. Because they found out that although they have different figures and body-shape, even they have different height and weight, all of them can fit a same pairs of jeans well!!! And they got very surprised on this thing. Because it's a amazing thing, right? No one had this kind of experience before.

In this summer, I have already made lots of new friends. But I thought the friend which really made me happy is a Samoyed Puppy. And we don't know what her name is, and we saw that there is a Baozi (A kind of Chinese food) in her food bowl. So I gave her a name--Baozi.
Actually I was a little afraid of dogs before, especially the large dogs. Because they always rush at people, especially the dog which my cousin feeds. She always rushed at when I get in my cousin's house. But Baozi is not like those dogs, she is very soft, and always smile at me ^_^
Baozi is a girl Samoyed Puppy. And I thought she id just about 10 months old. She is fed by the Border sentries in the Border between Russia and China at Heilong River. And because the sentries need working dogs, like German Shepherd Dogs, Border Collies. And Samoyed Dogs are useless for them. So they just feed her like a pet.

And we saw a scene like this--The sentries are training a German Shepherd Dog, and Baozi is tied on a tree by a rope. Then Baozi saw the German Shepherd Dog is been trained, and she started to bark at them, and even want to run towards them. But the rope let her can't run away. But the sentries didn't mentioned that. And I knew what Baozi thought. She just wants to play with the sentries! But because Baozi is useless for safeguard the border, they don't need to train her. But Baozi doesn't know so much, she just think they're playing. And she also wants to play with them. At that time, I thought  Baozi is a poor girl. But I also understood the sentries. So my cousin and I playing with Baozi whole afternoon. And I thought Baozi likes us very much!! : )
We can't played with Baozi everyday, because we have to go back Shanghai. But I hope the sentries can play with Baozi more. And if we can go back there, if Baozi is still there, we can still play with this little lovely, naughty girl. >3<

Yesterday we drove from Harbin to Wudalianchi. And during yesterday's morning, we had a tour in Harbin.
In the last journal I mentioned that this is the first time I go to Harbin in summer. And I have to say that the view in summer is really different from winter's. When I went to Harbin in winter, all the view I saw is snow, snow, and snow, white, white, and white. But in summer, we can see many colors of Harbin. We have gone to the St. Sophia Cathedral. The church which is the largest orthodox church in East Asia. And it's the representative of Byzantine architecture. There are many pigeons in the square of the church.

And we lived in the Modern Hotel Harbin, in Chinese, it is called Madier. And it's the most famous hotel in Harbin. It was been created in 1906. It's just on the Central Avenue, and it's very close to the Songhua River.
I thought Harbin is a city which mix ancient Russian culture and modern Chinese culture together. And you can see many ancient Russian structures and many Russian in this city. You also can buy many things which come from Russia. It's a good example of 'East meets West'.

Two days ago, we left from Shanghai, and got on the trip to Inner Mongolia. And during the last two days, we were in Shandong province. And we lived at Weihai in the first day, and lived on the ferry from Yantai to Dalian. And today we arrived in Dalian, Liaoning province now.
During these two days, we traveled in Shandong province. And because Shandong is near the sea, we droved around the seaside to see the view of sea. And had many seafood. And the most exciting thing for me is that because Shandong province is very close to South Korea, there are many South Korean stuff in Shandong, and we can buy them from any market. And I like the stuff in South Korea very much. That's really make me excited and happy!!! : )
And today we will drive to Harbin, Heilongjiang province. And we will drive across the 'North-east three provinces' of China. I have already been to Harbin two years ago during the winter. But this is my first time to go to Harbin in summer. I wonder to see the view in Harbin in summer. It must be a different view from the view in winter.

Q: Does the main character react to important events in the story like you would?

A: Yes, when Lena, Tibby, Bridget, and Carmen knew that they wouldn't spend the summer together this year, their reaction were like they are very sad, and will miss other three.
As teenagers, we almost spend most time with our friends. We study in the school together, hang out together, and so on, even have more time together than our family.
For us, friends are very important to us. If I will spend my summer alone, and can't see my friends the whole summer, I also will feel very sad and sorry. So I thought the main characters react like what I will do. And that make this story more lively and close to our daily lives.

图片
At the frist time I saw this title, I got a little confused, 'Describe a place that's really important to you' I don't know to choose which place. But just after a few seconds, I found out -- the most important place to me is my home.
There is an ancient Chinese saying said ' Your own house is better than any golden house and silver house.' That means however other people's house are, and however your own house are,it's still the best in your mind. because that is your home.

As an Chinese, I got the same thinking as my ancestry. In Chinese's mind, HOME is always a important place to everyone. So we got festivals like Mid-Autumn Festival, Spring Festival, and Yuanxiao Festival etc. to let the whole family come back home together. And the people who was working or studying in other place always will miss their home.

图片
For me, as a teenager, although I haven't left from my home and my parents for long time, I still think home is a important place. Two years ago, during the summer vocation, I went to U.S for summer camp. At first, I didn't miss my home at all. But when I got trouble during the summer camp, I thought about my home. I remembered that somebody said 'People will always miss their home when they got trouble.' I thought that is correct. At every time which I got in trouble, the first thing jumped into my mind is my home, and my parents. I don't know the reason, but I thought it's the reason why I think the most important place to me is my home.

Three years later, I will go to U.S for studying. And I thought at that time, I will miss my home more than now. And the most important thing for every holiday must be go back home. Maybe at that time, 'HOME' is not only the house which we lived, but also Shanghai -- the city which we lived in, even China, our motherland.

Because we will go to Inner Mongolia in 4 days, we are preparing for that. And I searched on the internet, ad got much information about Inner Mongolia.
In the past, the impression of Inner Mongolia in my head was lots of grasslands, blue and clear sky, fresh air with countless cows, sheep and horses. After searching on the internet, I knew that there are lots of interesting things about Inner Mongolia beside these things.
First, I know that Inner Mongolia is beside Mongolia and Russia, so there are many Russia stuff been sale in many place in Inner Mongolia. And the most famous souvenir there are the dairy products, like milk tablet, cheese, and milk. So I decided to buy some of these back to Shanghai.
Second, the weather there is very comfortable, Shanghai is now about 35℃, but the weather in Inner Mongolia is just about 25℃. So I thought this summer we decided to go to Inner Mongolia is a wise chose. : )
I still just got these information of Inner Mongolia so far. But I believed that when I came back to Shanghai, I will know more other things about Inner Mongolia than now.

For the summer reading assignment, I chose the book called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Because I thought it's very close to our lives, as a teenager.

Q: Do the characters in the story seem like they are real people? Why or why not? Give examples.

A:  I thought the characters in this story seem like they are real people whom live around us. Because they did many things which seems like the normal girls will did. And because I'm a girl, so I always felt I did the same thing with them when I was reading this book.
For example, there is a scene at the beginning of this book. It said they're preparing for a trip together. And one of them are polishing her toenails, and one of others said that she has to pack the luggage, but not doing something with her toenails. This action was just like what I do when I was packing the luggage, and my sister was doing something else, not doing something with her luggage. And at that time, I will noticed her to pack her luggage faster. So this scene makes me feel like they are just like the girls around me, not in a book.
And that makes me want to continue reading this book, because it attracted me. I have lots of interests on this kind of book. : )

For the teenagers, there are many new things for them, and so do us. So we have to keep trying to do different kinds of things which we never had.
For me, the 'something new' for me, is I will go to Inner Mongolia by car with my uncle, aunt and my cousin. It's my first time to travel to a place which is so far from Shanghai by car!!! The distance between Shanghai and Hohhot, which a place in Inner Mongolia, is about 1,500 km!!! At first, when I heard we will go to Inner Mongolia this summer, I thought of course we will take plane to there. But finally I figured out that we will go to there by car! I asked my uncle: Are you kidding me? But I knew that it's the truth...
And it's even not finished yet!!! We will drive from Inner Mongolia to Qingdao when we finishing traveling in Inner Mongolia, and meet my father and my grandparents there. But they will take plane to there from Shanghai. And my uncle, aunt, cousin and I will go to there by car!!! I almost want to cry!! T T
In the past, every time we went to a place for traveling or other aim, we always take plane, or train. And we always ordered hotels before we went to there. But this time, we haven't ordered any hotels, and we will go to there for about 10 days. Because we traveling by car, and we don't know which day we will in which place, so we will go to the hotels that day. That makes me feel insecure... I hope we will spend those time happily and safely... And you guys can pray for me during those days, hoping we can go back to Shanghai with healthy, WHOLE body... T T

图片
But although I'm very afraid of this trip, and my mom said I can chose to don't go with them and take the plane with my dad to Qingdao. But I still chose to go with my cousin. Because after thinking over, I thought it's a new thing for me. And also a new and distinctive experience for myself. And when I think of this journey, I will remember it better than other journeys. So I finally chose to try something new. : )
Maybe the something new has some unstable elements, or maybe it's a little dangerous, you still have to try it. If you don't even have tried one time, maybe you will regret after that in a long time. Or maybe other people tried, but you are afraid of that, so you don't want to have a try, and after other people done that thing, and told you how interesting that thing is. And now you wanna have a try, but maybe there only has one chance to that, and you lost that good experience.
So don't be afraid, to try something new!!! After the first try, you will find something which you never experienced, and you can try more times after that. : )
